Anarchy means simply “without rulers” at its root. It is the state of things without the presence of government. Anarchism is a philosophical conclusion that humans are not fit to govern other humans any better than they can govern themselves, and that anarchy is a preferable condition. Anarchists are people who hold the philosophy of anarchism. Anarchy does not mean chaos, absence of order, lawlessness, or immorality. It does mean self-ownership, independence, liberty, and voluntaryism.
