Justice is the right to take action or actions whereby the victim of a crime (a violation of individual liberty) or the victim’s kin are able to enact retribution or acquire restitution from the perpetrating criminal, or they may opt to show mercy or leniency. The key principle of justice is that it is the right of the individual, and the state usurps the individual’s right every time they assume the role of arbiter of justice.
